Conference Theme

During a time increasingly defined by conflict, environmental degradation, and economic instability, McMUN 2027’s theme “Resilience Across Borders: Navigating Displacement and the Search for Safety” seeks to address one of the more pressing and distressing challenges our world is currently facing. As global migration patterns continue to evolve and the impacts of the climate crisis render some regions increasingly difficult, or impossible, to inhabit, displacement has become a critical issue that demands greater attention from the international community. The impacts of displacement extend beyond the physical movement of people, they carry profound and enduring consequences for individuals, their close ones, and their broader communities, while also shaping the institutions, governments, and societies involved. In addition to the trauma and disruption caused by this issue, displaced individuals often face social, cultural, and structural hardships. These can include deculturation or cultural assimilation and balancing the two, discrimination, and social exclusion. Many also encounter significant barriers to accessing healthcare, education, employment opportunities and fair labor conditions, and adequate housing, among other essential services. Its complexity is also grounded in its intersection with a wide range of global issues such as public health, the climate crisis, human rights, and security. For this reason, it is essential for today’s citizens and tomorrow’s world leaders to develop a deeper understanding of this topic and a more comprehensive view of its impacts. 

This theme invites delegates to tackle the realities of displacement from diverse viewpoints that are built on and converge with various political contexts and backgrounds, making debates and conversations particularly enriching and insightful. McMUN aims to deepen our shared understanding of this topic and invites attendees to mindfully engage with these lived realities, collaborate together, and explore innovative responses. Together with the help of our partners, we hope this conference will raise awareness and bring visibility to the experience of displaced populations, foster thoughtful dialogue, and inspire lasting engagement with the issue. Through informed debates and international cooperation, McMUN seeks to cultivate conversations that promote empathy, inclusivity, and a shared commitment to building a more resilient future.

Our Charity Partner, Foyer du Monde

This year, McMUN 2027 is proud to partner Foyer du Monde is a temporary shelter for migrant families in vulnerable situations. Beyond housing, they provide support through this transitional period, including help with moving, childcare support, and French classes. These services are provided using a holistic approach to promote successful integration, while minimizing obstacles.

McMUN 2027 has the honor to commit to fundraising and hosting various incentives and events to promote Foyer du Monde pre and post conference.
