Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ)

Established in 1992, the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) focuses on combating national and transnational crime, improving efficiency and fairness in justice systems, and providing a platform for sharing ideas, expertise, and information within the international crime-prevention community.

Comprised of many of the United Nations’ most active members, the CCPCJ has seen a shift over the years in its mandate towards more targeted measures of dealing with international organized crime, trafficking, terrorism, and much more. These days, the commission is frequently presented with both policy and implementation proposals, both essential to the prevention of crime and upholding of justice.

Taking a specific turn towards youth crime and juvenile delinquency, delegates will need to work hard to apply creative solutions to this twist. As youth crime rates have peaked in certain areas, accompanied by a skyrocketing sense of uncertainty in numerous regions, the problems many countries face are unprecedented. The era of the Covid-19 pandemic has brought about new trends in cybercrime, policing, drugs, and community impact. Delegates will be tasked with navigating the rapidly changing landscape of international crime while developing creative solutions to tackle today’s modern problems.
