The Coordinators

The Staff Room Coordinators are in charge of all the equipment for the conference in the staff room, checking in and out equipment before and after committee sessions and printing resolutions. They must also be available to Additionally, they are in charge of printing materials for McMUN's committees and managing the staff room.The Staff Room Coordinators work closely with and report to the Chief of Operations.

The Committees Coordinators oversee a team of Committee and Crisis staffers. They assist in training and organizing schedules, including task breakdowns for Committee and Crisis staffers. They must ensure that each committee room has enough staffers for each committee session during the conference. They also assist the Team Committee in facilitating committees throughout the weekend of McMUN. They will also have to contact staffers to remind them of their schedules and will conduct wake up calls each morning to ensure the staffers are coming. The Committees Coordinators work closely with and report to the USG Committees.

The Delegate Resource Coordinators are responsible for managing the Delegate Resource Centre (DRC) during the conference, working alongside the USG Finance. Additionally, coordinators will be expected to assist during social events and any other tasks. In-conference tasks include overseeing sales at DRC (e.g., promotions, money handling), dynamically maintaining inventory records, answering delegate questions and concerns, and maintaining a clean and organized room. DRC Coordinators will have extensive interactions with delegates, including responding to sensitive concerns and potentially escalating them to relevant Secretariat members. The Photo + Video Coordinators oversee a team of photographers for the entire McMUN conference. They are responsible for capturing and editing media footage of the full weekend, including opening and closing ceremonies, committee sessions and social events. They must ensure that the photographers/videographers hired have a good foundational knowledge of their camera and techniques for success for the conference. The Photography Coordinators work closely with and report to the Director of Public Relations.

The Ceremonies Coordinators are part of the public relations team and are in charge of setting up any preparations needed for the Global Leadership Forum, as well as the Opening and Closing ceremonies. The job entails preparing and distributing programs, slideshows, seating organization, and instructing Secretariat and guests on what to do. You will also work closely with hotel staff. The Ceremonies Coordinators work closely with and report to the Director of Public Relations and the Chief of Operations.

The Sponsorship Coordinators will be responsible for establishing and maintaining partnerships with corporations and local businesses. Working directly with the Director of Public Relations, they will help create a sponsorship package and improve McMUN’s external relations. An emphasis will be placed on partnering with organizations that focus on sustainability. This position is a great opportunity to develop relationships with businesses in the Montreal community and beyond, as well as negotiation skills. Furthermore, Sponsorship Coordinators will help with promoting staff wellness during the conference. Experience in sponsorship or external outreach and French/English bilingualism are assets. Candidates must also be diligent, enthusiastic, and excellent communicators.

The Sponsorship Coordinators work closely with and report to the Deputy Director of Public Relations, External Outreach, as well as the Director of Public Relations.

The Design Coordinators play an integral role at McMUN, as they are responsible for making designs and graphics that will be used to promote the conference. They will design pamphlets, merchandise, and online publications that boost McMUN’s public relations portfolio and showcase everything the conference has to offer. Candidates should be proficient with computer design programs and should have excellent enthusiasm and organizational skills. Most importantly, candidates should be willing to think creatively and outside-the-box to make this year’s PR the best yet at McMUN.

*A portfolio is required for this position.

Design Coordinator


Event Coordinators play an essential part in a well-rounded delegate experience. They are responsible for organizing McMUN events such as Hype, McParté, Pub Crawl, and the Friday Night Alternative Event. Coordinators will help the Director of Events to book venues, sign DJs, recruit and train staff, and be in attendance to assist with all conference events. Although all Coordinators will be working as a team, collaborating on many projects and booking venues; tasks may include:

Ensures the presence of Red Frogs, MSERT, ect. Works to promote and ensure the wellbeing of delegates and staff during events.

Personel

Point person for staffers in terms of hiring, training, and communication. Books the DJ and other entertainment.

Friday Night Events

Work to establish and book the venues for the Friday night events including the Alternative Event and the new format for the traditional Friday night event.

The Operations Coordinators work closely with the Chief of Operations to ensure the smooth running of all committees, help out with all things related to the conference's infrastructure, and provide assistance during night events. Their main responsibility will be ensuring that all material is functional, both before and during committee sessions. The Operations Coordinators work closely with and report to the Chief of Operations.

Committee Equity Coordinator

McMUN committees often deal with sensitive issues that require careful planning to execute in a respectful and equitable way. The Committees Equity Coordinator will work closely with Team Committees and with the Chief of Staff to handle equity issues within the committees context. Duties may include meeting with daises for committees dealing with sensitive topics, reviewing background guides, and serving as a resource during the conference.

The Chair is responsible for developing the agenda for their committee with their Deputy USG, planning and writing the background guide with the Vice Chairs, and creating a positive working environment and dynamic with the committee staff. During the conference, they chair committee sessions to facilitate debate and ensure that the rules of procedure are being followed. The Chair should be passionate about their committee and their topics, as well as committed and hard working. The Chair works closely with the Vice Chairs and Committee Staffers; and reports to the Deputy USG Committees relevant for their committee.

The Vice Chairs collaborate with the Chair to write the background guide and other pre-conference materials. During the conference, they share chairing duties, help guide and facilitate debate, and above all should be an approachable resource for delegates and staffers alike. The dais should be invested in their topics and ideally be comfortable with and have some experience writing formal papers. The Vice Chairs work closely with Committee Staffers and other dais members. They report to the Chair and the relevant Deputy USG Committees.

Crisis Directors are those in charge of running the individual McMUN crisis committees. This position encompasses many duties both before and during the conference. Before the conference, there are documents each crisis team must produce for their committees, like the crisis plans. During the conference, the Crisis Director is in charge of overseeing all things crisis in their respective committee, like the crisis updates and the crisis team. Crisis Directors work closely with their fellow dais members (the Chair and Vice-Chair) and especially their fellow crisis teammate, the Assistant Crisis Director.

Assistant Crisis Directors are those who aid the Crisis Directors in the running of McMUN crisis committees. This position encompasses many duties both before and during the conference. These duties often include aiding or working closely with the Crisis Director to create and run a committee. Before the conference, they contribute to the creation of the crisis plan and other required deliverables. During the conference, the ACD acts as a liaison between the crisis staffers and the Crisis Director. They are largely in charge of the individual crisis arcs of delegates, but also aid in the development of the larger crisis updates.

Committee Staff

GA/SA Committee Staff

As a Committee Staffer, you will work in a General Assembly, Economic and Social Council, or Specialized Agency committee to help facilitate debate. 

Some specific tasks include: 

  • Familiarizing yourself with the material of each committee to ensure debate is on topic;

  • Assisting the Dais with moderating the committee, such as choosing delegates to speak, or keeping track of delegates who have already spoken;

  • Passing notes between delegates (paging);

  • Working with delegates to format and edit their draft resolutions;

  • Taking notes on the performance of delegates;

  • Assisting the Dais in deciding committee awards.

As a Crisis Staffer, you will become familiar with the Crisis Room and will help bring the storyline of a Crisis Committee to life. This fast-paced, dynamic environment will require creativity and quick-thinking. 

Some specific tasks include:

  • Assisting the Crisis Director and Assistant Crisis Director with facilitating a realistic, challenging and exciting crisis committee;

  • Thoughtfully answering crisis notes written by delegates;

  • Presenting crisis updates to delegates.


Venue Staff 

  • As a venue staffer, you will be placed at one of the Friday night venues. You will be responsible for helping the coordinators distribute the food or drinks to the participants!

  • Venue staff also help with setup, cleanup, and operations at McParte on Saturday night.

Events Staff


Delegate Resource Center Staff

As Delegate Resource Centre Staffer, you will be working with the coordinators to serve the needs of the delegates. Those interested should be friendly, well organized and personable.

Responsibilities include:

  • Selling merchandise to delegates; 

  • Answering questions about the conference, McGill and Montreal;

  • Assisting the DRC Coordinators with the inventory.

  • Get ready to SELL, SELL, SELL

Photographer

As a photographer, you will be working in a team to cover all aspects of the conference. Capturing key moments during the committees and evening events helps to share memories from the weekend. 

  • You are required to bring your own camera.

  • Previous photography experience is a must (you will be asked to include a link to a Google Drive containing previous work or a portfolio).

Resource Staffer

As a resource staffer, you will work with the Local Sponsorships and Staff Room coordinators to ensure the distribution of food bags to staffers, and provide general support in promoting staff wellness at the conference. Those interested must be well organized, friendly, and most importantly able to work under pressure!

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and managing the distribution of food specifically through our food bag system;

  • Helping with staff wellness initiatives and check-ins;

  • Serving as additional support for the Operations team.
