Montréal
Attractions - Night Life Options:
Club 737 1 Place Ville Marie-Niveau 397 0737 Ever wondered why there are spotlights over Montreal every night? Well here's your chance to find out! Club 737 takes you right to the top of the Montreal skyline where you can dance the night away in either a Top 40s club on the bottom floor or a salsa bar upstairs! And when you've had enough dancing, just sit and watch Montreal unfold right under your nose. You'll have to wipe the steam off the windows first though; it gets HOT in there! Buddha Bar 3616 St Laurent 287-6555 The epitome of chillaxed bars, you'll find yourself quickly drawn in by the warm and sensual décor, and, of course, the giant Buddha behind the bar. Though drinks are a bit on the pricey side, the one time I went opened my mind to new worlds. Very comfy couches and hot Montréalers too! Bifteck 3616 St Laurent 844-6211 A pub loved by all. This place is packed with people from all walks of life. When I say packed I literally mean packed; so packed you literally can't move 90% of the time . But it's all in good fun, and the free popcorn, unbelievable drink specials, and foosball/pool tables definitely take your mind off matters. Brutopia Brews Pub 1219 Crescent Street 393-9277 An absolute must for beer lovers! 'Bru', as its affectionally called, is a relaxed and inviting pub, and a great place to head when you're tired of Montreal's awesomeness and just want to sit down and take a breath,. It's in a quaint, brick-trimmed building and offers a unique selection of beers brewed on site, such as nut brown, raspberry and chocolate stout, as well a complete selection of Ales. Madhatter 1220 Crescent Street 987-9988 The Madhatter, located right beside Brutopia, is a great place to come any time of the day, relax, meet friends, play a round of pool while sipping on a margarita. Plenty of imported beer and the lowest domestic beer prices in town, makes the Mad Hatter a favorite for students and the young at heart alike. Blue Dog Lounge 3958 St-Laurent 848-7006 Kind of like a dog, but blue. Tu comprends? The atmosphere here is terrifically pleasant. Comfy sofas in the lounge and some excellent music spun by talented DJs combine to make a chill setting. Copacabana 1201 Maisonneuve 282-7787 An unofficial Montreal landmark, Copacabana has super cheap beer, drinks, and all that you can ask for in a bar: dim lights, music from long gone years and frequenters who recognize you and know your name (yeah yeah, you guys are all going back home in a couple of days; we get to stay here and relish this). Note- you'll probably feel out of place if you're all hooched up, and rightly so. You'll emerge smokey and feeling mighty fine. Vol de Nuit 14 Prince Arthur East 845-6243 Jimmy, the owner, likes to remind everyone that Vol has been around far longer than most of us are alive, uh, more like ages older (40 years). Every hour is happy hour here, and like Copacabana, Vol attracts regulars and has steals for drink specials. Frappé 3900 St-Laurent 289-9462 This sports bar has a generous amount of pool tables and good drink specials. This place sort of reminds me of the bar in Cheers; friendly and lively! Terrase la Cabane 3872 St-Laurent 843-7283 This place isn't a bar, per se. You get low-priced drinks and, what do you know, food! You might think you're on some Caribbean island, then again maybe just Montreal. Either way, La Cabane is comfortable and relaxed. Orchid 3556 St-Laurent. 848-6398 Montreal's happening location for clubbers. Orchid has been recently renovated and expanded. The DJs are talented and the music is great. Make sure you're decently dressed and full of energy. You'll definitely have a great time. Café Campus 57 Prince Arthur 844-1010 Café Campus hosts the annual blues fest. This big concert hall plays host to many local bands and international shows. Being in one of the most musically thriving cities in Canada, Montréal is home to fantastic musicians of every variety; it is sinful, ignorant and idiotic to miss out on this venue. 4 out of 5 dentists say live music is better than the headphone kind, and then some. St. Sulpice 1680 St. Denis Street 844-9458 This place is gigantanormous. There are seven floors of debauchery and drink specials that'll have your head spinning. Though closed in the winter, the place has a terrace half the size of a football field where you can just sit, relax and have a awesome time. Don't worry, we'll send you all postcards come summer so you can see what you're missing out! I'm just rubbing salt in the wound now… Unity II 1171 St. Catherine Street 523-2777 Primarily a gay club, Unity II is at the top of Montreal's gay clubbing circuit. It offers two floors of great drinks and nonstop dancing. For those who enjoy the techno and trance scene, the first floor spins all the best from all over the world. Everyone else, who like dancing to Top 40s music, the second floor is your destination. Though not open in the winter, the club also hosts a great terrace when Madonna gets to be too much for you downstairs; don't worry, we'll get the boyz of Unity to send you a postcard when it reopens! Le Parking 1296 Amherst Street 282-1199 A dance club and bar, the place is packed with some of the wildest dancing Montreal has to offer. It caters to all walks of life, straight and gay, and to all kinds of music. Enjoy trance on the first floor and reggae and hip hop downstairs. A bunker (yes a bunker!), pool tables, and some wicked yet scandalously clad bartenders make it one of the most awesome clubs around!
